Who hasn't seen this classic Thonet bentwood cafe chair at some point?? European sensibility meets American simplicity. Whether a desk, dining table or outdoor chair, this seating staple has withstood the "design" test of time!

Love it! - Leather chair
I saw this chair at Restoration Hardware paired with a desk and adored its fully wrapped leather look with belt buckle detailing - very Ralph Lauren! I couldn't stop thinking how amazing it look with age and wear. But don't get stuck on it as a desk chair, I would prefer a pair opposite a sofa - now that's double the pleasure!

Love it! - Armchair
I was recently leafing through a design magazine when I saw a Crate & Barrel advertisement featuring this gorgeous armchair - I took note to blog! Nothing says luxe more than a classic leather armchair silhouette with brass nails and hair-on-hide leather upholstering - don't you just want to curl up! The neutral beige coloring is so soothing to the eye and bound to blend yet be a standout piece in any space!

Love it! - Anna Wintour's office chair
So I might be a little obsessed with "The September Issue" - the documentary following Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of Vogue magazine and staff in the making of the September 2007 issue, the largest in Vogue history. Owning the DVD, I've watched it about five times and with as many fabulous moments that stand out, there is one design element that I can never seem to ignore - Mrs. Wintour's office chair! As we get a peek into her overwhelmingly cream and traditionally designed office, mouldings and all, I can't help but notice the stark contrast of her industrial steel office chairs - I'm simply perplexed by the choice. While it is classic vintage design i would expect a plush cushioned French or English silhouette with a stunning upholstered pattern - quite the contrary. But the latter works beautifully in modernizing the space, and I suppose that's what makes her the taste maker she is!

Love it! - Woven desk chair
I'm always on the look out for desk chairs that don't look like the typical desk chair. You know what I mean, the standard black plastic or leather executive office styles. Why can't a desk chair just look like a beautiful chair? Well I was roaming my local Pottery Barn this past weekend when I stumbled across this beautiful woven rattan style and can honestly say it was a first - I just had to blog about it!

Love it! - Woven chair
To mix up the textures in your room, a natural woven chair is always a safe bet. Neutral in color, natural in material - it's never offensive to the existing decor in place. And in a recent visit to West Elm I sat in this chair - it was comfortable to boot!

Love it! - Adirondack chair
Just when I think I've seen it all, I'm absolutely blown away! Wood, even recycled plastic, but have you ever seen a traditional Adirondack chair in Lucite?! I think I can die now! LOL :)

Love it! - Zebra armchair
Years ago Zebra print came back in a major mainstream way, first in fashion and them home textiles and we've never looked back! Animal prints will always be classic but zebra print reigns king of the jungle when it comes to the home - and with this super sophisticated cowhide zebra and polished nickel chair - it will be the one piece in the room to put all others to shame!

Love it! - Ikat folding chair
As far as folding chairs go, I think this padded Ikat is the most stylish I've seen in a long time. While usually taken out when extra seating is required, I wouldn't be embarrassed to showcase this darling chair year round! Use as a hall chair, desk chair, kitchen chair or vanity chair - when it looks this good the possibilities are endless!

Love it! - Bungee office chair
I'm literally sitting in this chair as I write this post. I've had this desk chair for over 5 years now and it's just as comfy as the day I bought it. Largely due to the bungee cords stretched over the entire seat and back - giving contour to all the right spots. I've put a thin seat cushion and fluffy throw draped over the back but by no means were they necessary. The cords are just as taught five years later and the swivel seat and ability to raise it up and down, lean back or lock it upright makes this one of the most versatile desk chairs I've ever had!

Love it! - Desk chairs
I'm often asked about desk chairs, as one that is comfortable yet non-executive looking is seemingly difficult to find. We all know the black plastic and black leather masculine staple - but what about something that has a warmer presence and doesn't scream - desk chair! Well one of my faves is this traditional slatted one from Pottery Barn. Available in 5 colors, with or without arms, on casters and both swivels and tilts - you get everything you ever wanted in a desk chair and more!

Market Profile - www.MetroSofa.com
As you might imagine, I get a tons of product submissions in hopes of being featured on DOD and I'm always a little nervous to see what's in store upon opening that email and venturing to their website. As my loyal readers know, I only write about what I truly find noteworthy, right? Well the other day I received a submission from MetroSofa.com and upon entering their website, an image of a sofa appeared and I literally jolted back in my chair, see first image. OK, all I have to say is, INSANE! I nearly died. And for all the other hardcore design lovers out there, I think you will too. Recycled antique frames, rebuilt and reupholstered with custom fabrics and patterns to produce one-of-a-kind furniture. Ready-made pieces to chose from or design your dream piece with their team. If you aren't in need of a new sofa, arm chair or dining chair, chuck one of your existing ones and find a need. Nuff said?

http://www.metrosofa.com - Sofas depending on style, size, fabric can range on average from $1,400-2,400 (pieces ship from Florida, cost roughly from $50-$300 depending on size, location and method)
